3:36 The best type of vitamin Eย

Today weโ€™re going to talk about the best type of vitamin E. In nature, vitamin E always comes in a complex. The vitamin E complex is composed of four tocopherols and four tocotrienols. When I mention four, Iโ€™m talking about the four different forms (alpha, beta, delta, gamma).ย

The type of vitamin E that most people need more of is tocotrienols. You can very easily get tocopherols from the diet, so they usually arenโ€™t needed in supplement form. Tocotrienols are more difficult to get from the diet.ย

Tocotrienols are different from tocopherols in that they are 5000 times faster at handling free radicals.ย

Vitamin E, in general, is a powerful lipid antioxidant, and one of the main functions is the protection of lipids. Lipids are in the cell membrane. Without vitamin E, all sorts of things can happen to the cell membranes.ย

Tocotrienols are like little antioxidants that are spinning extremely fast to clean up and neutralize free radical damage.ย

Potential benefits of vitamin E (especially tocotrienols):
โ€ข They may be anti-cancer.ย
โ€ข They may be cardioprotective.ย
โ€ข They may be liver-protective.
โ€ข They support the cell membranes of the skin, brain, nervous system, and the inside of the arteries.

Sources of tocotrienols:
โ€ข Rice (not keto-friendly)ย
โ€ข Palm oil
โ€ข Annatto (might be one of the best sources)ย

If youโ€™re going to take vitamin E, it may be best to get the whole vitamin E complex, including both tocopherols and tocotrienols. Or you could try getting tocopherols from your diet, and get tocotrienols from a product made from annatto.ย

  1. Dr Berg; there have been recent studies showing taking vitamin E, vitamin C, Antioxidants and other vitamins can contribute to cancer. This shocked me but would love to hear your thoughts on that.

  2. I am confused. How are tocotrienols better when this is what I found by googling? Tocotrienols, members of the vitamin E family, are natural compounds found in a number ofย vegetable oils, wheat germ, barley and certain types of nuts and grains. Vegetable oils provide the best sources of these vitamin E forms, particularly palm oil and rice bran oil contain higher amounts of tocotrienols. I believe these oils are the sources of the tocotrienols supplements.
I thought these were inflammatory oils? This is an honest question, I do not understand. Can someone explain this to me? Thank you!

  3. What about wheatgrass juice?
It’s well known to be abundant in vitamin E, but is it the right kind of vitamin E?

  4. Excellent ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

  5. how much annatto/day? I would buy the organic powder and fill my own capsules – WAY cheaper, but how many mg/day??????

  6. I add Annatto,to most dishes meat ,beans, soup,I go to Central America and get it. I use it a lot.The trees grow in yards in Central America.when we were children we use to paint our lips with it ,pretend it was lipstick.paprika is it from Annatto plants and the pads from the tree?.Good to know the benefits of the plant or tree.Thank you Dr Berg.

  7. I have a pouch of raw annatto seeds. I want to attempt to extract vitamin E from them. I did a little research and found that I can use an oil like avocado oil and heat them on a low heat for a few hours. After heating, you let it sit for a few more hours, then strain it and put it in a jar. I read that heat, light, and oxygen destroy the tocotrienals, so tjats why low heat is important. A neutral oil helps pull out the vitamin E. No chemicals are needed for extraction. Store it in a dark colored bottle that is airtight. Keep it in a dark place, and the oil is said to last for a few months. I read that pepper, cinnamon, garlic, rosemary, thyme, etc, help preserve and even enhance the oil’s quality and benefits. Also, crushing the seeds in a motor and pestle before you heat it in oil helps you get more of the tocotrienols. I read that the ratio of neutral oil to seeds should be 10 to 1. For more potent, you can do 5 to 1. There is a cold extraction method that is pretty much the same but no heating. You simply put the crushed seeds in a neutral oil and let it sit for about a day before you strain it. I wish I had a way to measure the vitamin E content for both methods.

  8. Great video! The author provides clear, valuable insights into the best type of Vitamin E. It’s informative and well-researched. Thanks for sharing this essential information!

  9. Hi Dr berg I use now vitamin e annato tocotreinols same what you said 125 mg delta 90% is and 10 %gamma that is good dr berg

  10. Dr. Berg, in your DIM supplement, the vitamin E source is an alpha tocopheryl. Can you explain why you used this in your formulation instead of a toco trienol? (I’ve seen that tocopheryl regularly consumed can be cancer-causing.) Thank you for clarifying.

  11. I love your very informative, easy to follow videos. I was trying to find the video where you said tocotrienols helped with doing stair exercise. I was wondering your opinion about anthocyanin and the study saying that it helps support muscles in terms of elevation gain. I am doing trek to Everest Base camp and currently training for sustained elevation trekking and wondering which is better to take for this? Thank you Dr. Berg keep up the good work, we are out here supporting your efforts!

  12. I had to come back to this video again to comment doctor because there is not enough information about vitamin E.. which form of food or supplement is best and how to take it..

  13. Felt great with vit E tocotrienols , which fixed my hypoxic state that I was in.
But experienced high pulse rate at night with taking a dose and unfortunately had to stop it.

  15. Dr. Berg, taking vit. E supplement in other form, d- alpha or dl- alpha tocopherol doesn’t have benefits? Annato, it’s Atsuete here in the Philippines.

  16. I just saw a video that was reporting that vitamin e supplements shouldnโ€™t be taken due to recent studies. Do you still recommend them? I was wanting to take vit e to thin my blood and to help with the stickiness of the platelets instead of aspirin. Especially after watching your video. I only found one Annatto that had only had the delta and the gamma of the tocotrienol. I have perfect to low blood pressure, my cholesterol has always been good but the last two years has dropped a lot. I have polycythemia Vera and I need something to help with thinning the blood and stickiness of platelets plus Iโ€™m not eating as good as I was. Thank you
